Malcolm is a management consultant and authorative writer on health policy and practice. He has a particular interest in the scope for more well-being, and the better containment of ill-being, in relation to persons (particularly individuals over 65 years of age), families and communities. His interest in the contribution of companion animals to better health derives from the seminal Australian study, PETS AS A SOCIAL PHENOMENON, conducted 20 years ago. Malcolm was project manager for the 1974 study. This 1994 national study confirms previous findings that companion animals are good for your health.

Malcolm McHarg, in 1994, was health consultant to THE COMMITTEE ON DARWIN and author of the Committee's HEALTH VISION REPORT on Territory Health and the potential of Darwin as a hub for helath export.
