Old English Sheepdog
This image is copyright and may not be downloaded or reproduced Originally a droving and herding dog, but now primarily a much-loved pet, the Old English Sheepdog, or "Bobtail" as he is affectionately known, makes friends wherever he goes. His distinctive appearance with a thickset, cobby body profusely coated with a shaggy blue jacket, combined with his delightful shuffling, bear-like gait, makes him stand out in a crowd. His thick, two ply coat is high maintenance and needs regular and careful grooming. The Old English Sheepdog has a sweet, affectionate "Peter Pan" nature - never quite growing up. He fits easily into a family situation, making him a reliable companion for those able to provide the coat care needed. He requires extra care in both hot and wet weather. An easy-going dog by nature, he usually enjoys the company of children but nevertheless is a good watchdog when required. He gets on well with other dogs, but above all else thrives on human companionship.
Height: Dogs 56 cm and
upwards
