The
Sassy Siamese
This purrsonality-plus puss is for all those who want a full-on relationship
with a character cat. No shrinking violet, the Siamese both demands
and provides extremely stimulating companionship.
Extraordinarily intelligent, inquisitive and resourceful, this life-in-the-fast-lane
individual insists on participating in all facets of your daily activities.
Siamese are particularly "helpful" - assisting with everything
from reading the newspaper to doing the housework !
Impossible to ignore, this is a breed with a very definite opinion
on just about everything - which it insists on sharing ! Here is a cat
that just loves to chat. Although some Siamese are more talkative than
others, with some having louder voices than others, all are accomplished
conversationalists. So, whether it's discussing what's for dinner tonight
or which T.V. programme to watch, this opinionated puss is sure to have
something to say on the subject.
The dominant purrsonality and highly individualistic ways of this "cat
with attitude" means that on occasions it can be enchanting and
exasperating all at the same time. The popular song lyrics:-
"We are Siamese if you please,
We are Siamese if you don't please"
pretty well sums up their outlook on life. This is undoubtedly part
of the powerful attraction of these fascinating felines - being both
precocious prima donna and adoring soulmate all in the one purrsonable
package.
One thing is for sure. Life will never be dull with a sleek'n'sassy
Siamese by your side. In fact, it's a bit like having a built-in entertainment
unit in your home - with every day being "show-time" !
The breed's riotous repertoire of tricks can include anything from
retrieving, sitting on your shoulder, or performing the high jump, through
to playing hide-and-seek, going for walks with you or making up the
most inventive of games. This life-of-the-party puss will certainly
take you on a colourful roller-coaster ride, ensuring you are never
lonely or bored.
Despite their sometimes willful ways, Siamese are steadfastly loyal
- being totally devoted to their owners. They tend to mellow out as
they get older, meaning that they are just as well suited to being close
confidantes of the elderly as energetic playmates for the young. Male
Siamese are often somewhat quieter than females.
Kittens are born white, with the darker colouring developing on the
"points" - ears, face, tail and feet - from three to seven
days of age. Eye colour is always a beautiful vivid blue. Looking like
porcelain figurines, these cats are truly living, breathing works of
art.
This breed's striking appearance, "in your face" personality,
devoted disposition and companionable character ensures it has a legion
of fans wherever it goes. For those who cherish individuality and self-expression
in pets as well as people, the Siamese offers a deeply rewarding relationship.
In a nutshell, a very special feline friend for lovers of free spirits
!
