Petcare Information and Advisory Service believes that the more than two thirds of Australian households which own a pet derive significant benefits from that ownership, and that their needs and the needs of the whole community are best served by ongoing information and education services.

Petcare provides information to key bodies interested in pet related issues  including state and local government, animal welfare groups, veterinary associations, and dog and cat breed associations.

Four "Pet Hints" per month are released to newspapers throughout Australia, and Petcare acts as a general resource for print and electronic media.
