If you're a pet owner, you're amongst the majority.  Australia is a nation of pet owners - at least 80% of Australians have a pet or have had a pet at some stage of their life.  Presently, nearly two thirds of Australian households have some type of pet, and over half of Australian households have at least one dog or cat.

When surveyed, 91% of pet owners report feeling "very close" to their pets - so it comes as no surprise to find that pets are increasingly regarded as members of the family.
