Community invovlement and urban dogs - some ideas
David Paxton
Abstract
The paper uses a naturalistic perspective to explain a dependency
between people and dogs. On the basis of the explanation, an
argument is developed for broadening the focus of urban animal
management policy from 'responsible dog ownership' to a community
based philosophy which allows greater public recognition of the
benefits and costs of dog keeping in the urban situation
